Welcome to Sydney University Baseball Club
Sydney University Baseball Club (SUBC) was established in 1904. We have a long and proud history in Australian baseball.
Sydney Uni Baseball Club is part of one of the longest and prestigious sporting organisations in Australia, Sydney Uni Sport, which has its origins dating back to 1890. Sydney Uni Sport has produced more Australian representatives and won more major competitions than any other club. Consequently it continues to be an influential body in the sporting domain.
The winter baseball season runs from April to August. SUBC fields six teams during the winter season, with trials running each year around the start of the Uni semester in March. The Club enters teams into two different winter baseball leagues – Sydney Winter Baseball League and Pacific Coast Baseball League.
The Sydney Winter Baseball League (SWBL) is the highest calibre competition in the state during the winter season. The Club enters three grade teams (1st, 2nd and 3rd grade) in SWBL. SUBC also enters three development teams into the Pacific Coast Baseball League (PCBL).
Student Led Club
We take pride in being a student led club. We encourage and mentor students in taking up positions on the SUBC Executive Committee or becoming committee members to play a role in the running of the Club. This includes playing and non-playing students from Sydney Uni taking on key roles and leading club activities and initiatives during the season.
Joining The Club
The club is always looking for new players of all ages and ability, and is open to members of the public as well as those affiliated with the University. For students playing at in the higher level (SWBL), there are opportunities to be apart of the Sydney University Elite Athlete Program (EAP), which includes financial and non-financial incentives. More Info on the EAP can be found here.
If you are interested in playing, please follow our social media pages for regular updates about upcoming events (facebook, instagram), or contact us to express your interest.

There may be times during a game throughout the season that a bench player gets to sub in for a starting player.

Pacific Coast Baseball League (PCBL)
After taking on many forms, Pacific Coast Baseball League (PCBL) officially amalgamated in 1987. The vision for PCBL is to ensure wide participation of all in the game of baseball. To ensure that a safe and enjoyable playing environment is made available to all participants at all levels.
SUBC expanded into PCBL in the early 2000s. In 2024, the Club established a 2nd PCBL team which paired with its existing PCBL team. This enabled the club to enter two teams for the first time in PCBL which meant that the club didn’t have to pair (share) a home ground with another club.
In 2025, SUBC established a 3rd team in PCBL. The current structure and grading of the three PCBL teams for the current season is – two teams in C Grade and one team in F Grade.
Days and times of play
PCBL follows a season draw with teams scheduled to play on either Saturday or Sunday during the winter season. All teams play a timed game of 2hrs in duration.
For all grades, Division 1 always plays the late game with Division 2 playing the earlier game.

Player Development
All of the PCBL teams are consider development teams and are pathways to playing in the higher grades in SWBL. We strongly encourage all players in the higher PCBL teams to talk to the 3rd Grade Coach about sitting on the bench for 3rd grade games.
This is part of a players development as they become exposed to high levels of baseball in doing so. There may be times during a game throughout the season that a bench player gets to sub in for a starting player in 3rd grade.

Intervarsity Games
In 2025, SUBC initiated intervarsity baseball games against other Australian universities. This initiative is a great example of a student led initiative and consists of a Sydney Uni students only squad.
In 2025, a SUBC student squad ventured down to Melbourne, Victoria to play against Melbourne University over two days. In 2026, the Hume Intervarsity Cup was played over the Easter long weekend at Jubilee Park in Wagga Wagga, where our SUBC student squad played games against the University of Melbourne, Monash University, and RMIT University.
The Hume Intervarsity Cup will become an annual fixture and will be led and driven by the Sydney Uni students to foster and grow the game of baseball while forging camaraderie and friendly rivalries across Australian Universities.
If you are SU student interested in playing in our annual Intervarsity baseball games, please get in contact with us.
